- denote probabilities whose values may, in some cases, be unknown. Such values can then be represented by intervals, but their boundaries no longer obey the laws of probability. Imprecise probabilities offer a very general framework, which includes as special cases the theory of belief functions, and the theory of quantitative possibilities.
