MemSHS is a bilingual (English–French) thesaurus designed to organize and clarify the main concepts used in memory research within the humanities and social sciences (history, sociology, and political science).

This tool serves several purposes. First, it facilitates mutual understanding between French- and English-speaking researchers by ensuring reliable correspondence between terms. Second, it enhances the coherence of scholarly work by avoiding conceptual ambiguities or approximate translations. Finally, it provides valuable support for literature research, indexing, and the archiving of academic publications.

By bringing together intellectual traditions stemming, for example, from the work of Maurice Halbwachs on collective memory and Pierre Nora on lieux de mémoire, with Anglophone approaches developed around Memory Studies, this thesaurus highlights both the convergences and the conceptual specificities characteristic of each academic sphere.
